What Personal Care Looks Like in 2021

Upping My Gen Z Personal Care Routine in 5 Steps

Generation Z, those born between 1995 and 2015, spend a lot of time on their personal care routine - myself included. Even teens are using facial cleansers, eye creams and moisturizers. It's a part of our daily routine.

And it’s a trend that is shaping the beauty world, which now has to offer products for a wider range of clientele.

Why Personal Care is Important

As a Gen Zer, you want to look good today, tomorrow and when you’re 50. Consistency leads to beauty, and flawless skin comes with a daily routine. It's just that simple. Personal care is important because you’ll:

·       Look your best

·       Feel your best

·       Be confident

It's all about you. Chances are, personal care might mean something different to you than it does to your friends or family.

What Does Personal Care Mean to You?

Personal care means I’m ready for the day. If a friend stops by or someone wants to go to lunch, my care routine means I’m at least partially ready. My skin looks good. If I were a man, my beard would be trimmed and on point. My face is glowing after my morning or nightly face scrub.

For you, personal care may mean that when you look in the mirror, you feel good about yourself.

If you’re worried about aging or want to get rid of dark undereye circles, your care routine may focus on this issue.

Once you understand what personal care means to you, you can start building a routine of your own.

Building a Personal Care Routine

What’s your personal or skincare routine look like? If you’re trying to make a better routine or need to put one in place, it only takes a few steps to get started. Universal personal care makes developing a routine simple.

Let's walk through a five-step process to help build your routine today.

1.      Face. Your face makes an impression, and there are always a few concerns when trying to care for your face. Determine your routine based on these concerns:

·        Aging. Spot treatments and hydrating products may work well.

·        Dryness. Moisturizers will do the trick.

·        Dullness. Exfoliating products along with hydrating and similar products can help.

·        Under eye and wrinkles. Eye creams, creams with peptides and wrinkle creams work best.

·        Oily skin. Exfoliating products and certain moisturizers may help.

2.      Hair. In-shower and styling products can help. Suffer from flat hair? A volumizer may help. Want to get rid of flakes? There's a shampoo for that.

3.      Body + Hygiene. Scrubs, cleansers and body washes come to mind. Deodorant creams and products can also help the active person smell fresh all day long.

4.      Fragrance. Want to smell good? Perfumes, colognes and body sprays can help. A general fragrance is good for most occasions, but you may want to have options for special occasions, such as first dates.

5.      Shave. Growing a beard? There are kits that can help along with beard oils, balms and multiple shave products. Pre- and after-shave products may be an option if you have sensitive skin or need to shave and leave quickly in the morning.

Slowly add to your routine over time, choosing products that have a purpose and help you look and feel your best.

Manifest fits into your unique lifestyle – we make universal personal care accessible. Interact with products, test them out and grab a sample. And if you have questions, the Manifest team is trained to provide recommendations for multiple product lines.

Our team believes in the “whole” person approach to personal care.

With Manifest, all of the best products are under one roof, including the best in skin, body, hair and healthcare.

Revamping My UCLA Apartment

homedepot.JPG

I can't believe that it's already my senior year! Since it is my last year at UCLA, I’m keeping my home environment updated. Now that virtual work and school are parts of my home life, I’m upgrading my space with the newest from The Home Depot.

Decorating my college apt has been a work in progress (and a struggle to stay within budget) and I'm finally satisfied with how everything turned out!

As an influencer and student, I want my space to look amazing and be functional on a budget. I’m upgrading with the best home goods like this fridge that fits everything from my skincare to my drinks and snacks. Better yet, upgrades from The Home Depot have helped me de-clutter my space and keep me organized!

I ordered this retro fridge from @homedepot to specifically reduce my kitchen + living room clutter and it's now a surprise staple piece for me #HomeDepotPartner. It's beautiful and fits my living room aesthetic perfectly. It is also extremely high quality - my food + skincare lasts longer and stays fresher.

Car Tips For This Holiday Season

JESSICALEE2.JPG

This post is sponsored by Kelley Blue Book; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Holidays! I cannot believe we're reaching the end of 2019. It's been a wild year - I finally (kind of) have a car (shoutout to Skyler haha) and it's made traveling so much easier than ride-sharing everywhere. I can actually go home and visit my family on the long weekends!

Funny enough, the last time I went home, the car got a flat tire late the night before, and it was so stressful. There weren't any auto shops open, so we had to drive home on a super flat tire super slowly, and go out again the next morning before we drove to the Bay Area. I wish I could have known ahead of time and saved myself the trouble.

Luckily, I now have the Kelley Blue Book Auto Repair Guide to keep me on track with recalls, repairs, and maintenance. Ya girl is always busy, so I need this Repair Guide to remind me of important maintenance dates. Plus, when I'm going home for the holidays, I won't ever have car trouble again.

I honestly don't know that much about cars, so I love that the Auto Repair Guide comes with a Fair Repair Range estimator that tells you approximately how much your repair should cost.

You can also schedule service appointments with local dealerships directly on KBB.com’s Auto Repair Guide Page, which is so convenient for someone who is always on the go.

Head to the Auto Repair Guide here, and keep yourself safe this holiday season.

Thanks for reading my loves!

Easiest Festival Hairstyle EVER

This summer has a been a whirlwind of one festival to another. I had my first festival experience this year at Coachella, but that wasn’t enough for me. I went to Revolve Festival, am preparing to go to 88rising, and most recently attended Splash House in Palm Springs.

Honestly, festivals can be tiring! There’s a lot of planning involved with festivals, like hotels, outfits, makeup, and hair. That’s why I’m sharing the easiest festival hair style ever that I wore all throughout Splash House. Keep reading for the tutorial!

What you’ll need:

-       Heated styling tool: my choice is the Bed Head Blow Out Freak

-       Hair jewelry like rings, charms, and sparkly clips or hair glitter

-       A few hair ties

Step 1:

Start with either damp or dry hair. I started with damp hair, blowing drying it with my Bed Head Blow Out Freak. I love using the Bed Head Blow Out Freak because it combines a blow dryer and styler, helping me save room in my suitcase and save time after showering.

If you’re starting with dry hair or day old hair, I feel you! Spray some dry shampoo in your roots and you’re good to go. I also like to use my Bed Head Blow Out Freak tool on dry hair because it has bristles for detangling, Tourmaline Ceramic to bring back shine to dull hair, and multiple heat settings.

IMG_9039.JPG

Step 2:

Tease your hair and give it volume + waves with your styling tool. I style with the Bed Head Blow Out Freak.

Step 3:

Section off a small portion of hair and braid it, tying it with a small hair tie. You can tug at the strands of brand to loosen the braid and give it more volume.

Step 4:

Repeat step 2 on multiple sections of hair. Choose pieces that will frame your face.

Step 5:

Attach the hair jewelry to your hair. I chose to use jump rings with charms on the end. You just stick them into your braids and it looks really cute! You can also use barrettes, hair clips, or even hair glitter.

And you’re done! It took me less than 10 minutes to complete this whole look, which is a must when you’re rushing to the venue to catch your favorite artist. Sending you good festival vibes for the rest of summer!

My Dorm Essentials

Back to School Season is coming around (can’t believe it’s already here!) I’m always scrambling to get my life together right before school, especially when it comes to decorating and furnishing a dorm. There are so many options to choose from, so I put together some dorm essentials that are must-haves. Read on!

 Must haves:

1. Over-the-door shelving: space is so hard to find and hard to use well. Bathroom doors and front doors are the perfect hidden places to hang shelving!

2.  Plants, either fake or real! I think they add so much life and color to a windowsill and room in general.

3. Game Console: College is the place to meet new friends, and what is easier to bond over than entertainment? Xbox sent me their new Xbox One All-Digital S All Digital to try, and it’s become one of my college dorm / apartment essentials. aThis console doesn’t have any disks (all the games are online) so it’s super easy to set up in a dorm and play. This also means I can’t lose any of the game disks LOL. I got myself the Game Pass which comes with over 100 games; everyone can find a game they like and it won’t cost anything extra.

For a chill night in, you can also stream from sites like Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, Hulu, and more, even if you don’t have a Smart TV.

P.S. Thinking of starting a Twitch, who would watch?

4. Cute photos! It sounds basic, but it’s nice to see familiar faces when you’re far from home.

5. Storage bins / plastic dressers: Keep your winter stuff in easy to carry storage bins. If you have too many clothes like me, keep some of your clothes in plastic dressers. When summer move-out comes around, you’ll thank me!

6. A bright light for night time studying. It will brighten up your mood, even during finals week!

7.  Microwave mac and cheese and cup noodles. Enough said.

Making Money Moves - Quick Tips I Learned

This post is brought to you in partnership with Zelle® and the InfluenceHer Collective. All words and opinions are my own.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for coming to my blog. It's been a long time since I've been on here, but I wanted to share with you some of the important lessons I learned about money during my experience with Zelle last week.

Some of you may know that Zelle lets you safely pay friends fast - and, the best thing about Zelle is probably already found in your banking app. I really admire their company because of the amazing Zelle executives I met a few weeks ago, and because they're really trying to change the industry by educating young people (especially women) on how to take control of their money.

Here is the key takeaway I had:

1.It's time for young people, especially young women to take control of their own finances.

Even the most accomplished women sometimes are still not very well-versed with how to deal with finances and how to deal with their money. Not because they're not able or smart enough, but because they've been told that they can't. Zelle wants to empower women to take control of their own financial independence - whether it’s paying your parents back or requesting friends to pay you back for dinner, Zelle is there to help.

2. 80% of women avoid talking about money.

Let’s open up that conversation. Talk to your boss about that pay raise. Advocate for yourself at your job and let your higher ups know that you’ve been working hard. You can take charge of your own money moves.

What are some questions about money you’ve always had? Comment below!

Skin Routine + GRWM Hollywood Party

Happy Valentine’s Day Week! How are you spending Valentine’s?

I’ve had a super busy week so far, full of midterms and trying to juggle time between friends, my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day, and shoots. It’s important to me that my skin is holding up during these stressful weeks, and I love using Biore products, such as the Biore Pore Strips (click here to check it out!) and Witch Hazel Toner (click here to check it out!), to keep my face clear.

Long known for its astringent and pore cleansing properties, Witch Hazel is a multi-purpose remedy. The natural ingredient is known to tighten pores, purify, refresh and help heal skin. When Bioré® Pore Clarifying Toner is combined with this botanical astringent, wicked skin issues disappear.

Here’s my mini Get Ready With Me Video / My Boyfriend Tries Pore Strips For The First Time!

How I Deal With Uncertainty

As you guys probably know, I’m still a student at UCLA, and it’s job hunting season. I don’t know what I’m doing for summer yet, but I’m excited for change!

For example, last summer I also had no idea, and alongside taking classes at UCLA I grew my Insta! I believe space can develop into great opportunity).

A lot of you ask how I stay motivated - especially since I’m on social media so often, there’s a lot of pressure to compare myself to others. I turn this into my way of setting goals - if I want it, I need to work hard for it. And that’s how I approach my Instagram!

Modeling Campaigns with NYX! 1st time shooting

I’ve been wanting to write about my ongoing modeling campaigns with NYX Cosmetics but couldn’t explain everything over Instagram, so here it goes!

I actually reached out to one of the NYX Creative Managers about being a part of their Fall and Winter Collection! She posted about the opportunity in a UCLA Forum (NYX uses real girls and influencers, not models, for all of their campaigns).

I have a light skin tone, so I was chosen as one of three girls to represent all the shades for their new Fall and Winter collection, available worldwide. The photos taken will be released in store and online in 2019!

Everyone at NYX is so friendly and outgoing. The shoot took over 10 hours as putting on makeup, shooting, taking it off, and doing it again actually takes a long time!

Here are some videos and photos:
